Has anyone noticed since the bombings and the election results in Spain that there is an attempt to pin the election results on the fact that the bombings themselves and therefore the Spanish people's fear of the terrorists changed the election? Which candidacy for POTUS would this benefit? Now I'm not saying that our government did this. I'm just asking you to look at how the current administration is spinning this. They're not mentioning the fact that the coalition of the willing is falling apart. They just want to make sure to scare you into voting for them. In other words who would tell the American people, "Don't let the terrorists influence your election by voting out our current administration."? Just something to think about.

As the Juan Cole article that I posted yesterday theorizes the election results occurred in Spain because the people of Spain perceived that their government took them into a war that was not related to the war on terror. And that there involvement in that war was the catalyst for the attacks. But what is emerging now that is even more interesting is the fact that the current government was voted out because it initially lied to the Spanish people about who was responsible for the attacks. Imagine that. Think about these two things. Your government tries to coverup the truth about a terrorist attack on your soil and is caught in that lie. Your government also lies to you about the reasons for going to war-- it in essence causes more suffering and dying for the people of your country, not less as you were told--and then at election time they are voted out for those lies. Sounds logical to me.
