Silence is Consent

If you don't speak up you accept what is happening. This site was born out of the mainstream media's inability to cover the news. I am just an American cititzen trying to spread the word in the era of FCC consolidation, post 9/11 Patriot Act hysteria, hackable voting machines and war without end. I rant and post news items I perceive to be relevant to our current situation.

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.

Unless you were in a box yesterday I'm sure you saw heard about John Kerry's remarks, Kerry Stands By Republicans Are 'Crooked Liars' Claim. I guess one of the main problems I have with this is that it is being portrayed like it is part of his stump speech. These were off-hand comments to a supporter. It went something like this:
"Keep smiling," one man said to him.

Kerry responded, "Oh yeah, don't worry, man. We're going to keep pounding, let me tell you—we're just beginning to fight here. These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group of people I've ever seen."

"It's scary," replied another worker.

And what do the Republicans have to say about it you ask?
But the chairman of the Bush re-election campaign, former Montana Gov. Mark Racicot, said Kerry should apologize.

"Senator Kerry's statement ... was unbecoming of a candidate for the presidency of the United States," Racicot said.

Wow, he almost sounds serious! Iwonder if this rings a bell for him?

Remember during the 2000 elections when, thinking himself off-mike, Bush and Cheney had this exchange?

Bush "There's Adam Clymer -- major league asshole -- from the New York Times," Bush said.

Cheney, "Yeah, big time," returned Cheney.

Well that sure wasn't very becoming of a candidate for the presidency of the United States or the vice presidency either. Check this one out.

Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said the comment gave the public "a little glimpse of the real John Kerry."

Touchy, touchy. If DeLay is making a bad comment about you you must be doing something right. It appears Mr. Kerry has touched a nerve. The truth hurts. Some of us feel vindicated, we've been calling them crooked liars for quite some time now.
